shutting down a domain for a log period of time

hi,

we have system that runs on windows 2008r2.  the system only has around six servers of which one is a domain controller.

The system was a pilot and a live system was built on separate server.  due to compliance we need to keep the servers and rather than back them up and delete them we would like to shut them down.  a small chance exists that we may need to switch them on again in a number of years.

we use a virtual environment so shutting them down will free up the resources they are using.

my question is what happens if in 2 years we get a request that the servers need to be accessed.  My first thought is that we need to switch on the AD server and after that the applications servers.  will the AD controller once up realize that the servers have not been in contact for two years and refuse logons to the domain?  I assume if I did have this issues I would just need to re-add them back to the domain?

thanks

phill
