Corrupt Profiles windows 7 on a 2003 functional level domain with mixed 2003 & 2008 DCs

Hi,

I'm currently having an issue where sometimes users logon and have a black desktop (instead of the default blue Windows), missing control panel icons and incorrect folder redirection settings applied (i.e. mydocs points to an old location).

To fix this, I'm simply getting the user to log out, removing the profile from their Windows 7 client and then renaming the server profile. Subsequent logins now work. This isn't a feasible long term fix. You can have 2 users in the same OU, same groups and logon to the same PC, but yet the GPO folder redirect settings apply for one perfectly and not the other - as soon as I remove the faulty profile and log the user back in, all is ok.

Finding the cause of profile corruption has been difficult - I suspect users logon to multiple PCs at once or aren't logging off properly, however I can't say for sure.

I'd be very interested to hear from anyone who's come across this and found a solution. Failing that, could someone point me in the direction of a Windows 7 guide for roaming profile best practice on a 2003\2008 DC?

Thanks
