I have 2 physical servers, one is running Windows Small Business Server 2011, and one is running Windows server 2008 (NOT 2008 R2).
I tried to configure the the 2008 machine as a secondary domain controller, but I got the error:"
"The version of the Active Directory schema of the source forest is not compatible with the version of Active Directory on this computer"
Or something almost identical to that, I don't remember the precise wording. I've been digging around the web for a while, but I can't find a straight answer to this.
Can Windows Server 2008 (again, NOT R2) serve as a secondary Domain Controller with Windows Small Business Server 2011 being the Primary?
Obviously, the 2011 machine MUST be the primary controller, that's a requirement of the Operating system. Do I need to upgrade the 2008 machine to 2008 R2 to be able to use it as a secondary domain controller? For that matter, will I be able to use it as a secondary Domain Controller if I DO upgrade it to 2008 R2?
