I currently have two domain controllers, Windows 2000 SP4 and WIndows 2003R2 SP2. I've got two new Windows 2008R2 SP1 domain controller I'd like to bring on board then demote our old servers.
I am currently running Windows 2000 Native mode on the Windows 2000 box.
From all my research it sounds like I need to upgrade this server to Windows 2003, then I'll be able to raise the domain functional level on my Windows 2003R2 machine.
Once that is complete I should be able to run ADPREP on the servers and then promote my new 2008R2 machines.
I'd like to avoid upgrading the Windows 2000 machien and just demote it, but not sure of the repercussions.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!!
