Hello
We have 13 sites for a single domain implementation and we are planning to reduce them
I have found that Site 3 and Site 4 can be merged into 1 ( site 3 into site 4, so no site3 ) = I have validated bandwidth b/w 2 sites and its excellent ( 10MB).
Site links exist between site 3, Site 4 and Site 5
Site link x = site 3, site 4
Site link y = site 4, site 5
end goal is to remove site link x and have site link y
-----------------------------------
Site 3 has 3 subnets and 2 Domain controllers for clients to authenticate , when consolidating / merging below are the possible options
1) move 3 subnets to Site 4 : AFAIK , this would not impact existing client authentication / applications dependent on AD because once the subnets are moved, KCC will re-generate intra-site topology and intersite topology ( recalculate process ) and may assign or use existing ISTG
2) change Member servers ip address and DC ip address of site 3 to site 4 : once we change the IP address of DC to Site4 subnet, recalculate will re-create the topology - same as point 1 , no changes to replication / client affinity
calculate the site link cost and assign
3) Delete Domain controllers in site 3 and point clients to site 4: this would not have any replication impact but client authentication should be validated against the bandwidth
please advise if my understanding is correct
