Restoring attributes for an unknown object in Active Directory

We are running WS 2008 R2. There is an unknown object in the active directory that used to be a user account. I just took over administration 3 days ago; I don't know why it's in that state, but the user needs this account back asap. Here's what I've done:

- I've gone through the steps here http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd379509%28v=ws.10%29.aspx on the DC but they didn't help, as the object is not listed in the tree under CN=Deleted. Rather it persists in the active users under CN=<name>,OU=<users>,DC=<my domain>,DC=<com>. This is what displays when I double click the entry in ldp.exe:

                Expanding base 'CN=<name>,OU=<users>,DC=<mydomain>,DC=<com>'...

                Getting 1 entries:

                Dn: CN=<name>,OU=<users>,DC=<mydomain>,DC=<com>

Nothing else appears in ldp.exe, such as attributes, etc.

- I have also made certain the administrative account retains ownership of the object with full permissions, but it says that it cannot display the attributes for this object in AD because I may not have permissions.

Any help is greatly appreciated. :)
