I opened up DNS on my primary DNS server (DC2) to make sure some recent additions were made; instead of finding 100+ records my primary DNS server has 4 records: SOA, two NS records for DC1 and DC2, and a host record for my work computer. Everything else is gone: no _sites, _tcp, DomainDNSZones. The reverse lookup and forward lookup zones seem to be there. But the domain.internal only has those 4 records.
The event log has no entries for the past week, and nothing interesting before that. DC1 (the backup) has all the records still.repadmin shows replication working properly. nslookup andping work fine from DC2. There have been no complaints from users involving DNS. The SOA for DC2 is on serial number 5315, while DC1 (the one that still has records) has a serial number of 5316. An hour ago DC1 was at 5308, so it looks like it is adding new records. Running 'replicate configuration to the selected DC' from Active Directory Sites and Services seems to run fine, but no changes are made.
Any ideas on what might have happened, and what my next step should be?
*edit* I noticed the serial number was still incrementing, so it seemed to be working fine even though nothing was showing up. I logged in locally to verify the problem. Turns out it is only under my username that it is not showing the records. When I logged in under another domain admin account everything showed up. I verified I still have all the privileges I expect to have, I can't find anything different about my user. On the other DC I can see the DNS records under my login. Any ideas?
