Hi,
We are running a Windows 2008 R2 Funtional Domain and we have 3 Windows 2008 R2 domain controllers.
We have recently noticed a number of users on our network are having a problem with their machine and we think the issue is DNS related. A user will be using the systems as normal and then randomly at sompoint during the day the user will not be able to resolve any DNS queries. On the users machine we try to ping a server using DNS, Server01 or Server01.domain.com and you get unable to connect to host please make sure the host is switched on and connected to the network. However if you ping Server01's IP address 100.0.0.1 and you get the normal reply from 100.0.0.1 message. The only way we've ben able to fix this issue is by running an ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew on the users machine.
I've tried searching through the logs on all of our server and no errors are listed. We initially thought that this issue was network related but we have two buildings which are physically connected and we've had a number of users in both sites reporting this issue. I've gone through the majority of the DNS hotfixes that have been relased and they have either all been installed or are not required on our server.
Can anyone suggest any other steps that I can take to try and resolve this issue?
Thanks
