SSL Certificate for ADFS 3.0

I am reading technet prior to configuring ADFS on Server 2012 R2. I am replacing my current ADFS 2.1 deployment. In the following article

it says I need a subject alternative name of enterpriseregistration.addomainsuffix.lcl. I would like to reuse my existing certificate, sts.ulta.com. But it doesn't have a subject alternative name. Is this necessary now with ADFS 3.0?
