Hello all,
Just as a heads up I did review many posts in the forums but I still have not been able to resolve this. Here's a little background of what I've done and where I am now.
I recently installed two new DC's (both 2008 R2 servers) to take over for our 2k3 DC's. After promoting these servers, I ran into Advertising and Replication issues on the new DCs so I was forced to run D4 and D2 restortations on the DC's. This resolved the Advertising and Replication issues as dcidag beings back no errors and the netlogon and sysvol folders appear domain wide. The main issue is now with gp and trying to update. I get a 'The Processing of Group Policy Failed' error referring to a folder that IS NOT present on any DC or sysvol folders, it simply is not there. Is this as simple as restore this folder from a backup or is there something else going on here? I don't think gp will be applied until I get this resolved. Any help would be appreciated. I've also done the following:
Assigned private IPs to all DCs, then assigned other DCs/DNS servers as secondary. Disabled IPv6. Flushed and reregistered DNS, then restarted DNS and NETLOGON services.
Error 1058
The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows attempted to read the file \***.***.COM\SysVol\***.***.COM\Policies\{677C18B6-5FB4-4514-8B73-77D1376D2ED2}\gpt.ini from a domain controller and was not successful. Group Policy settings may not be applied until this event is resolved. This issue may be transient and could be caused by one or more of the following:
a) Name Resolution/Network Connectivity to the current domain controller.
b) File Replication Service Latency (a file created on another domain controller has not replicated to the current domain controller).
c) The Distributed File System (DFS) client has been disabled.
