Active Directory 2008 R2 Disaster Recovery Fail

Hi,

I am trying to recover one of our Active Directory 2008 R2 Servers for DR purposes. I need to be able to restore Active Directory to different hardware.

I have 2 x 2008 R2 AD servers on my network, one Hyper V, and one Physical. I run a full 'Bare Metal' backup every night on both servers. Unfortunately I only have 1 physical location. The main points of my recovery are:

1, Copy backup to server 2, Boot with windows 2008 R2 DVD and click 'Repair your computer' 3, Select System Restore and let it re-create all drives and partitions.

I have tried many times to restore without success, the closest I have got is this error on boot 'bootmgr is missing' which I can't get past.

Does anyone have a AD DR procedure using Microsoft Tools that works, if not are there any good 3rd party solutions??

Some resources I've used..
