We have recently setup am Active Directory Domain. We are a small company and up until now we've just being using local security on each PC.
I have dealt with permission on Windows systems for years but Active Directory is pretty new to me. My PC has joined the domain and I am trying to give my domain account access to a local folder so I don't have to deal with UAC every time I need to change something in that folder. I open the permissions, go to Security, click Advanced, Edit, and change my permissions on the parent folder, telling it to propagate the new permissions.
Every, single time I get a "Access Denied" message. I got this once before on another folder and just worked around it, but I really need to get to the bottom of why this is happening.
I am almost sure it has something to do with the fact that this computer was used a great deal before it joined the domain. Perhaps Windows doesn't consider my domain account/group a local administrator?
Suggestions or tips would be appreciated.
