Deleting a user account and creating a new one with the same name fails

Hello,

I have a problem with one of our domain users. He had serious problems with his domain profile. Since I could not find a solution, I decided to delete the profile and create a new one. To give him a clean start I did the following:

1. delete the user in ActiveDirectory
2. delete the home folder \\domain\users\homes\the_user
3. delete the profile folder \\domain\users\profiles\the_user.V2

Additionally, I removed the local copy of his profile from his desktop PC (including the registry key).

The next step was to create a new account with the same login name. During creation I received the warning that the home folder \\domain\users\homes\the_user already exists. However, the folder is not visible on any DC. I am able to manually create the folder and assign the appropriate rights but then folder redirection does not work. Is there something I am missing? What could cause this problem?

Regards,
Oliver
