My LDS pw is missing?

Hi,

I have a stand alone instance of AD LDS on a workgroup machine.  I created a user in ADSI Edit and set the pw by right clicking on the user to set the pw.  I can use ldp.exe to successfully connect and bind.  If I enter a wrong pw, the bind fails as expected.

Now I am modifying software that fails to bind even when I enter the correct pw.  Doing some reading I found that the pw could be stored in the userPassword or unicodePwd attributes.  However these attributes say not set in ADSI Edit.  I did not expect this.

However pwdLastSet has a valid date in it.  badPasswordTime has a date of yesterday and badPwdCount=0.

I do not understand.  Where is my pw?
