So I have a strange AD structure and it seems to cause some very strange issues.
Here is what it looks like.
So the issue is that sometimes computers on floor 2 get new IP addresses but the DNS will not updated to the new IP it was given, and becomes unresolved by DNS name.
So it will get its IP fro another domain its not joined to and wont correct DNS on its own domain if that makes sense. Before you ask, yes this is a very bad structure but what was supposed to be a temporary design while moving the entire company from one domain to a completely separate forest has lasted a bit longer than I would like and is causing DNS issues. Has anyone seen this before or had a similiar issue?
What I do have:
Both domain had a incoming/outgoing trust with the other domain
Reverse Lookups for both domains in DNS are on both respective DNS servers and zone replication lists all DC's in both domains.
Forwarders set from Domain 1 to go to Domain 2 for DNS lookups
Forwarders set from Domain 2 to go to Domain 1 for DNS lookups
