DCPromo Logon Failure

Windows Server 2003 R2 SE SP2

 I am trying to demote a DC thru DCPromo. I received the following Error;

The operation failed because:

Active Directory could not transfer the remaining data in directory partition CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=domain,DC=com to domain controller DC5.Domain.com.

"Logon Failure: The target account name is incorrect."

I did a system reboot just for the sake of testing and hopes that it would try to replicate to a different server, which it did with the same results.

The operation failed because:

Active Directory could not transfer the remaining data in directory partition CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=domain,DC=com to domain controller DC2.Domain.com.

"Logon Failure: The target account name is incorrect."

My intent for this machine is to reuse as a DC at different site and remove their Win 2K server.

My thought was to demote it, change the name to reflect the new location and then promote it again with the new location reflected in Sites/Services. I know that I could power it down and demote thru Metadata Cleanup but I want to make sure that I am doing this as clean as possible.

Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions

Jim
