We have multiple customers running either Windows 2008 R2 servers OR Windows SBS2011 Servers that are seeing a time variation of 2-5 minutes behind actual time. We are also running a Windows 2008 R2 Server,a s well as a SBS 2011 Server in our own office that is also historically behind. We are an IT outsourcing firm, and this seems to be a repeating trend with a good number of our customers.
Not every client's network configurations are the same, and some have stand alone servers, some have multiple servers, but the ones with the time off are pushing the out of sync time off to their workstations, in our office as well. I've read several articles regarding this, talking about PDC Emulators, etc. I thought in the newer environments there is no need for PDC, BDC, etc.. WE have one Domain controller, some of our locations have one or two... but in general almost all that are running these versions of server are finding their environments are off the annoying 2-3 minutes.
There HAS to be a reasonable way to fix this without re-engineering the environment. can anyone enlighten me?
thanks, Alex
