I oversee a small business that has grown significantly in the last couple years. We are reaching the bounds of our single /24 subnet. We do not virtualize or use the cloud. (At the request of management)
What i'd like to do is move from a /24 subnet to a /23 subnet. My rational is that I inherited a bit of a mess. A lot of custom programs reference specific IPs. So I'd like to keep the IP addresses the same for the servers and specific systems to avoid having to find a way to rewrite those programs. I'm also having to do this without spending any money and without interfearing with the 24/7 daily business. We have 2 DCs (Primary and Secondary Backup). What is the best way to accomplish this? I'm pretty sure i cant just go to each device and change the subnet from 255.0 to 254.0 on the server and each machine.
Thanks for your help.
