NIS Password Sync Issue

Hello,

I'm having an issue with my NIS setup. I manage two AD domains - one is running 2008 R2 and the other 2003.

In the domain running 2008 R2, NIS works like a charm. When you add users to the NIS domain, they can authenticate against Linux servers, you can change passwords, etc, etc.

However, in the domain running Server 2003, there seems to be an issue with password sync. If you create a new account and assign it access to the NIS domain, the user can log into Linux systems, but only until they change there password. In Linux, if you query the user account (ypcat passwd), it shows the user account, but the password hash remains unchanged.

We have been banging our heads off the wall trying to sort this out, but have been unable to make any progress.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
