hello Pro's

today I removed non-working DC on win2k8 server by dcpromo /forceremoval and it's finished

and I have this article to follow  to make  Clean Up Server Metadata

but because it's critical issue, I want to make sure that I understand what to do.. the question is:

I do the configuration on the server that had the orphaned DC that I already removed, or from another DC which is working in the domain??

the config below:

To clean up server metadata

  1. Open a command prompt.

  2. Type the following command, and then press ENTER:

    ntdsutil

  3. At the ntdsutil: prompt, type:

    metadata cleanup

  4. Perform metadata cleanup as follows:

    • If you are performing metadata cleanup by using the version of Ntdsutil.exe that is included with Windows Server 2003 SP1, at themetadata cleanup: prompt, type:

      remove selected server ServerName

note: The removed DC is windows 2008 slandered, and the master domain in win 2003 Ent sp2
