We are in the planning stages of an AD consolidation with 4 other companies. Parent company (AD1) will be the primary AD source for a system-wide application (the application will only point to one AD) and user accounts (will use a 3rd party tool to sync accounts and passwords) will be created in the source AD for all companies. At some point in the future (phase 2 - 2 years), Exchange, Lync and file shares will be migrated to the Parent company's AD (Windows 2008 R2).
Network conflicts and connectivity, DNS, and user account name conflicts will be resolved. Do workstation and server name conflicts needs to be resolved as well? What are the benefits of establishing a two-way trust for phase 1? What are the prerequisites and best practices for a two-way trust? Thanks.
