ADRMS - connection with cluster cannot be established

Hi, we have recently installed the AD RMS role on Windows Server 2012 core. Protecting documents and client access was working fine till a few days back. Now while opening the AD RMS snap-in on the server, I get the error "A connection with the ADRMS cluster couldnot be established - request failed with HTTP 401: Unauthorised". A separate user account has been used as the service account. The account used to install and provision ADRMS is part of the local admin and ADRMS Enterprise Admin group on the server. I have tried connecting to the cluster url from the snap-in and still get the same error. The server name and cluster url both resolve from the dns and can be pinged from local machines. I am also not able to access the licensing url from any client computer. It keeps prompting for credentials and eventually gives "HTTP Error 401.1 - Unauthorised" error page. I have tried with different browsers, added the url to the Trusted sites etc. No permissions or credentials have been changed from the time it was working till now. Is there something that we are overlooking?

Thanks.
