I am currently trying to decide on how to create a new 2008 domain in which all my users will be created new because of profile and other user script related problems. Our current environment is 2003AD at 2003 level. Most users log in through citrix but we have laptops that use local profiles and group policy to create desktop and mapped drives, map printers. We are using exchange 2010, sharepoint 2007, citrix5, all located in 2003 domain. Which would move to new 2008domain.
I would like to manually create each user in the 2008 domain and gradually move servers to the 2008 domain without any replication from the old domain.
After extensive reading on setting up a trust from old domain to new domain or vice versa. I was thinking of setting up a one way non transitive external trust from old 2003 domain to new 2008.
Is this the best to accomplish ease of server migration to new domain, that would guarantee no user or machine replication to new domain?
