We have 2 domain controllers in our network (2008 R2 running at 2008 R2 functional level). However, anytime we reboot one or take one down, any clients that used that particular DC as a logon server lockup and choke for a good 10-15 minutes before it realizes that there is a second DC and starts using one that instead. The majority of our clients are still running Windows XP, with a handful of Windows 7 machines out there. I feel like there should be some sort of timeout value somewhere I can set to fix this.
Does anyone know if there is a reghack or a GPO out there that says something like "Number of seconds to wait before giving up and looking for another DC"?
