I have a small network that consists of two Server 2003 R2 Enterprise domain controllers, one is primary and one is alternate. In the past year we've upgraded all our workstations to Windows 7. Many of the 2003 group policy settings still work, but there are many that do not translate.
So I'd like to keep the 2003 DC's but add a third DC which would be Server 2008 Enterprise and the GPO manager for the Windows 7 workstations.
Sorry if this is a newb sounding question, but what are my best options here? Is this even a realistic scenario? Can the Server 2008 serve as a GPO manager for the Win 7 workstations without promotion to DC? Thanks for any input or advice.
