Hello,
I am planning to upgrade my AD infrastructure from 2003 R2 to 2008/2012
My current setup is :
Root Domain: 4 root domain WW and schema Version is:44
Child domain: there are 4 different child domains WW and there are few dependency on these child domain like UNIX authentication/DFS/lotus notes/Exchanges 2003 + ADFS for office 365 (exchange online) and few other development related applications which are SSO using AD
Also, we have in-house DNS Name Servers which is on Solaris
Wanted to know is there any issue with 2008 R2 Schema (46) or 2012 schema with all above mentioned applications?
And once 2008 R2/2012 schema Is updated I am planning to add 2008 R2 Domain controller in existing AD Farm and will transfer roles one by one, Is it right way to do it?
Please suggest if anything I need to consider/take care before going upgrading schema and Domain controller
One more question: is it okay if we convert any DC from Physical to Virtual, will it work or will good if we create new Virtual DC and transfer roles?
Regards,
Swapnil
