My network is running on 2 Windows 2003 Domain Controllers. The Domain Functional Level = "Windows Server 2003". One of the Domain Controllers do host an Exchange Server 2003.
Goal: The whole network should be migrated to Windows 2012 as a server O/S and Exchange finally should be moved out to a hosted 365 plan.
In order to be able to decide the proper order of tasks (1 domain migration - 2 Exchange migration - or vice verca), the following question need to be answered:
Is it possible to introduce an new Windows 2012 DC to the 2003 Domain without breaking the Exchange 2003 server? Will there be schema upgrades performed? Or can I upgrade the functional level later on?
