Domain Controller can't determine FSMO roles from Active Directory Users and computers

Hi there, I'm migrating a 2003 SBS server to Windows 2008 R2 SP1, and I've joined the new server to the domain, verified DNS, have all the correct settings etc. I've raised all the domain functional levels to 2003 native and such, and I'm preparing to install Exchange 2010 on the 2008 server. However when I issue a setup.exe /PrepareSchema the exchange setup says it can't find a schema master.

As far as I can tell everything is replicating OK, I get no hairy errors in about active directory, running DCDIAG on both the 2008 and 2003 servers pass with a few hiccups about printer mappings from the system log.

When I issue a netdom query fsmo on either server I get a reply that all fsmo roles are held by the 2003 SBS server.

If I check the fsmo roles on the 2003 server from the GUI it says the fsmo roles are held by the 2003 server.

However, when I check the fsmo roles from the 2008 server via the GUI, I get a big honking ERROR when it tries to determine who any of the FSMO holders are.

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks
