I am having following question
My setup is ( testing and not prod )
FRD = contoso.com
FFL = win2k3
DFL = win2k3
Child domain = primary.contoso.com
FFL = 2k3 ( this wont change )
DFL = 2k3

I want to raise the domain functional level So I changed the DFL on FRD first and then changed on my child domain = is this valid ?
I read on here ( on of the post ) that first we have to raise DFL on the child domain and then on FRD

or
I can keep changing the domain functional levels on domains but that is always subject to the FFL set
eg: if I set FFL as 2k3 , I get DFL as ( 2k3, 2k8, 2k8r2, 2012 ) - so I can play around the DFL , but when raising the FFL I need to follow from lower hierarchy which is raise first on child domain and later on FRD. - hope I am not smoking around :)
