LDAP read spikes

Hello all,

At roughly 1 minute and 31 minutes past the hour, at irregular times throughout the day, our users are gett RPC popups in their Outlook clients. I have used perfmon to ascertain that the Outlook freezes are because the Exchange servers are trying to contact one of our Domain controllers (let's call it DC1 - it runs Windows 2008 R2 SP1) but are receiving very long wait times (see graph below). Here is a graph showing a week's worth of LDAP read time values for DC1 on one of our mailbox servers.

Each of the spikes comes at roughly 1 minute past or 31 minutes past (occasionally it will be a couple of minutes out) but the spikes do not come every hour. In between the spikes DC1 performs ok with within recommended readings.

It seems to me that there is some scheduled task somewhere that is mauling our DC every so often. My question is, what tools can I use to find out what it is?

Many thanks for any help you can give me...
