Script to change desktop icons

I have just pushed an application to users' desktops using SCCM. The software had configuration files that created a desktop shortcut icons. Now, the issue is I need to change the color of these icons so that users will not get confused and know which icon stand for what purpose. I have tried to do this vie GPO, but couldn't succeed....I was able to create .ico files and redirect the icons to those .icos. That worked, but I did that manually, and that doesn't really resolve this issue, as this has to be done on 200 plus computers.  So is  there any script that I can use?

I want the script to go to the desktops and redirect the icons to the icos.
