Demoting NT4 Server PDC in a Windows 2003 AD

Hello,

A client is in a serious bind and we are trying to figure out the best method of removing a partially-live NT4 Server PDC that's in a Windows 2003 AD. We've taken the NT4 PDC offline to see if Windows 2003 AD catches all authentication and all seems well, so it appears that the NT4 PDC doesn't need to be alive anymore. Reading a few MS KB articles, MS says that its acceptable to use ADSIEDIT to remove the NT4 PDC from the Domain Controllers and be done with it.

My question is: if the NT4 PDC is removed this way ( is this the correct/recommended method? ) will anything break on the network? This NT4 box is also a SQL 7 box, so we are trying to preserve that role while we migrate off of it. After the PDC removal, we want to join it back to the 2003 domain and continue being on the network for any services that depend on the AD credentials it's used to.

Please shine some light on this suggestion.

Thanks.
