Clarification on objectGUID attribute and its definition as Octet String

Hi,

Attribute objectGUID in the AD schema is defined as Octet String.  On MSDN, the objectGUID Syntax is listed as Object(Replica-Link).

Is Octet String the same as Object(Replica-Link)?  What are the differences?
