The 2003 domain controller seems to have crashed.
It's a raid 5 configuration, during the backup I noticed a red harddisk light, and then the server rebooted .
the first screen was stating rebuilding active directory indices, please wait.
after some reboots and check disk verifications, I was able lo login in the directory services recovery.
the event logs (attached) are saying the file is corrupt and to recover from backup.
Is there another way around this ? Only data backups are available (and the tape unit is attached to this machine as well. :(
There is another domain controller available though.
what's the best steps to go from here.?
( people are unable to login in, exchange is not working , ....)
If I promote the dc to active directory,
do I need to demote (and how) this problematic server so the data can be accessed ?
will it eventually come back up online , ?
its a dc/dns/file and printer server
